Poetry, celestial beauty and jewelry skill sparkle in Chanel’s sky with the Mademoiselle Privé Comète watch, which revisits the symbols so dear to Gabrielle Chanel. Because Mademoiselle cherished comets, Chanel today reveals a superb specimen, more luminous than ever, delicately set with diamonds as if suspended in flight over a mother-of-pearl stage. More than 100 hours are required to produce a dial of this kind. Firstly the material has to be hollowed in order to create a housing into which the mother-of-pearl can be slipped along with the comet’s golden curves. Following this, the pre-cut mother-of-pearl is assembled in an extremely fine inlay featuring elements taken from the same piece of mother-of-pearl but positioned differently in order to play with the light. The following stage is in the hands of the setter who places diamonds of various cuts and sizes using collet, grain, or four-grain setting techniques. The result is both unique and magnificent. One can only be wonderstruck in the wake of this comet.
