Food is sacred to the Chinese, pouring out of hundreds of towers at lunchtime and heading for the first free stool in a simple building to order a delicious soup, or sandwich shops, or 3 star Michelin restaurants. In the heart of Central stands the 5-storey Chinese restaurant, Yung Kee, whose popularity causes a traffic jam in the area. The food here ranges from simple to more sophisticated dishes that are the object of a warm welcome and service suited to every clientele according to their status. The average person stays on the lower floors and contents himself with watching the happy few invited to go to the upper levels. The lift located outside the restaurant allows direct access to the top two floors, exclusively occupied by VIPs and private rooms. The latter provide a comfortable, discreet environment where one can talk business while enjoying stylishly served refined cuisine. One runs into Swiss watchmakers here, mostly guests of Carlson, an important retailer that is a regular at the establishment, hosting all suppliers as well as organising events with employees and partners. Pre-reservation is crucial. The diversity and quality of the menu allow for small or enormous orders alike, with the certainty that it will be delicious.
