Capeland, the sporting chic collection from Baume & Mercier, is exclusively composed of automatic chronographs intended for men. They are inspired by a 1948 vintage model and come in round “pebble-type” cases with a cambered sapphire crystal and short lugs. In 2012, the range is being enriched with some particularly generous models (with a 44 mm diameter instead of 42) featuring dials bearing the Capeland’s signature Arabic numerals, telemetric scale and tachometric scale. These models are driven by La Joux-Perret Calibre 8120, visible through the sapphire case-back with its oscillating weight personalised by Baume & Mercier’s “ Phi” symbol. One of the five new versions is a response to specific current demand with its predominantly blue sunburst satin-brushed dial. This resolutely seaside living model entirely in tune with the brand slogan sets the watch apart from standard design codes and strikes the perfect balance between elegance and joie de vivre.
