Methodically, but on all fronts; patiently, but at a sustained pace; passionately, but always within the limits of reason, Antonio Calce is steering the Corum ship towards the promised land of the great brands. In 2011 the fleet bearing the key-shaped standard rounds a new cape with the launch of the famous baguette movement in a self-winding version. Four years of R&D went into developing and ensuring the reliability of the materials, the frictional forces and the winding coefficients of this mechanism featuring a slipping spring and a linear oscillating weight, visible through both sides of the gold case. The energy derived from winding is transmitted via a rack fixed to the oscillating weight and constantly engaged with a reverser system equipped with ceramic ball bearings. The four-gram platinum oscillating weight “floats” along 1 cm steel rails with a PTFE Teflon coating, while the contact zones between the chariot and the rails are made from beryllium copper. The Golden Bridge Automatic comes in 70-piece and 130-piece limited series in white or rose gold respectively.
