How can one sum up 130 years of activity in a few lines ?
130 years of uninterrupted history, 130 years of exceptional horological passion, 130 years spent taking up new challenges… From the first patents filed in 1894 to the Sports Watch Prize awarded by the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève last November for the Scafograf 300, the brand founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Georges-Lucien Eberhard in 1887 has shown a consistent ability to create models that are both innovative and loyal to the rich legacy of its exceptional history. Right from the start, the independent brand specialized in producing technical watches, launching its first wrist chronograph in 1919. This complication subsequently became the key specialty of Eberhard & Co. and the core of its expertise.
Consistently driving the development of the chronograph to ever greater heights, the Maison revolutionized time read-off in the early 2000s by presenting the Chrono 4 (patented – registered design), the first and only chronograph in the history of watchmaking equipped with four counters in a row. This layout greatly facilitates reading and makes it truly intuitive, while providing no hint of the complexity and difficulty involved in the construction of its mechanism.
Eberhard & Co. thus naturally chose this emblematic model to celebrate this jubilee, by introducing the Chrono 4 130 model : a case resized in tune with current trends, a dial featuring a sunburst finish in the center elegantly reflecting the light, as well as a crown proudly displaying the age of the Brand. This anniversary watch is available with three dial variants : gray, silver-toned and black.
The Maison has spared a thought for its collectors and various aficionados by offering a limited edition of… 130, naturally. The Chrono 4 130 Limited Edition frames an openworked silver-toned or black dial, providing fascinating views of the movement’s DLC-treated mainplate and chronograph wheels, thanks to the upper bridge made of sapphire crystal and measuring just three tenths of a millimeter. An anniversary that is clearly being toasted in due style!
