Very sporty and super chic
To understand the new Rolex Yacht-Master 42, one must first consider its predecessor, the 40mm Yacht-Master. This luxury sports model radiates a spirit akin to that the professional Rolex, while maintaining a chic yet relaxed urban feel. Its pink gold version had inaugurated the very comfortable shape-memory elastomer bracelet, called Oysterflex, while the use of pink Rolesor gave it a very precious touch despite its very utilitarian-looking bezel with a matt black ceramic insert. This preciousness vanishes with the Yacht-Master 42. First of all, because it is available in white gold, a more discreet shade, in harmony with the black bezel and the Oysterflex strap also featured in this version. Secondly, because the 2mm increase in diameter compared to previous YachtMasters gives it a more clearly masculine appearance, without becoming overtly muscular. This effect is further enhanced by the introduction of the largest applied hour-markers ever seen on a standard Rolex. Intrinsically luxurious yet an authentic tool-watch in spirit, the Yacht-Master 42 manages to find a distinct new slot within the already finely calibrated Rolex range.
