Revealed at Baselworld through the highly innovative Constant Escapement that was featured on the cover of the last issue of GMT, the dynamic new surge of the manufacturer from La Chaux-de-Fonds is also reflected in this reinterpretation of its Bi-Axial Tourbillon. From its original version, distinguished in 1867 by Neuchâtel Observatory and the Paris Universal Exhibition, Girard-Perregaux has maintained the basic principle, the ellipse-type decoration of the barrel of the famous pocket watch with three bridges, as well as the manufacturing expertise. Making the most of the latest technological breakthroughs, the in-house engineers and watchmakers have developed a regulating organ composed of 110 parts united within two tourbillon carriages weighing less than one gram, visible on both sides of the case and magnified by the sapphire bridges. The technical content thus remains in tune with the aesthetic of the container, symbolising a recaptured balance between a legacy of avant-garde Fine Watchmaking and a pragmatic vision legitimately inspired by this heritage.
