Jaquet Droz : Technical and aesthetic evolution

Jaquet Droz begins writing a new chapter in the history of its Grande Seconde line by incorporating a new balance-spring in silicon – a supple, high-performance material insensitive to shocks, to variations in temperature or pressure, as well to magnetic fields which are more difficult to master – as well as a lever with inverted cones into the movement of its calendar model. In terms of finishes, a gray and black treatment lends a more contemporary touch, and the fan-shaped Côtes de Genève motif on the larger bridges reinforces the brand identity. In accordance with the custom of the House, the dial is coated in Grand Feu enamel applied in the traditional way, but for the first time, the counters forming the iconic 8, borrowed from a 1874 pocket watch, appear on different levels. The dial thereby gains added depth without losing its identity. For its launch, the Grande Seconde Quantième Ivoire is available in four versions : a red or white gold case, each in 39 or 43-diameter sizes.
