Evoking a nostalgia for another era, when cars drove differently and races where rigorously timed using chronographs, Reservoir has always sought to highlight its mechanical inspirations (hence the name). The latest watch to join the Reservoir collection is the Hydrosphere Blackfin, up for consideration in the Diver’s category for this year’s Grand Prix de Horlogerie de Genève. Though the inspiration stems from vintage car measuring instruments and gauges, the Hydrosphere Blackfin also offers a modern take on time display. The top two thirds of the dial have the minutes display for the retrograde minute, similar to R.P.M counters, with a jumping hour display at the bottom of the dial. Below the jumping hour sits a power reserve display styled like a fuel gauge. The hour and minutes display are clear and legible on the black dial, with a mix of red, green and blue on the minute track and unidirectional rotating bezel to help measure time while you’re under water.
