Among the same ultra-technical new launches presented by Richard Mille at the SIHH 2013 were the world’s lightest watch (the 19-gram RM 27-01 designed for Rafael Nadal ; see our Innovation column), as well as two limited series created in partnership Jean Todt, the President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) : the RM 36 G-Sensor tourbillon model and the RM 58-01 World Timer model. Loyal to its pronounced taste for futuristic aesthetics and extreme complexity, Richard Mille dedicates its expertise to the service of user friendliness. The 24 time zones indicated by the same number of cities are chosen simply by turning the beadblasted and satin-brushed bezel counter-clockwise, and not via the traditional pusher, which takes longer to handle. Positioning the name of the city where one has just landed automatically defines local time, and that in the 23 other cities on the 24-hour graduated inner bezel ring. The black and white disc distinguishes daytime and night-time hours. This perfect interaction between the bezel and the movement is achieved via a dedicated gear train stemming from cooperation between the watchmaking and case engineers, who were able to guarantee the overall water resistance of this model. This limited series also displays its exceptional 10-day power reserve at 2 o’clock.
