Ergonomics is a lesser known Richard Mille specialty. The brand’s latest watch pushes back the limits of comfort in a given situation. The RM 70-01 Tourbillon Alain Prost is entirely new in terms of its shape, its approach and its horological complication. Developed in close cooperation with the French F1 racing champion, this ultra-light tourbillon watch is dedicated to… cycling. Based on the observation that a classically designed watch can feel uncomfortable when gripping a bike’s handlebars, they have created a new type of case : almost tonneau-shaped, symmetrical in all three dimensions, and remaining comfortable whichever way it rests on the wrist and even on bumpy roads. Alongside its tourbillon, the watch is equipped with an odometer – graduated to 99,999 – that manually records the number of kilometers covered, for example. A dedicated selector (another Richard Mille specialty) enables the user to choose the numeral to be modified (units, tens, hundreds), while a pusher drives a roller. Unprecedented… yet another hallmark of the Richard Mille spirit.
