With the new North Flag collection in tribute to the 1950s British North Greenland Expeditio whose members were equipped with Tudor Oyster Prince watches, Tudor is taking a decisive new step in the adventure of its modern era. Right from first glance, the mostly matt-finish brushed caseband and the sandblasted surfaces of its brushed steel and black ceramic tech-look livery symbolize Tudor’s leap into a new dimension, reinforced by a first for the brand in terms of watch exteriors : a sapphire crystal pane fitted in the caseback and revealing the openworked central movement rotor. And with good reason, since this new 2015 model is the first ever to be equipped with an in-house manufactured movement. Perfectionists by nature, the spiritual heirs of Hans Wilsdorf have equipped it with an antimagnetic silicon balance-spring featuring finishes to match its reliability. The result is duly certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute. This technical sophistication is reflected in its modern black aesthetic that is energized by the white luminescent material on the hands and hour-markers, as well as the yellow sweep-seconds hand and five-minute intervals. Aesthetic and technical strengths are thus dedicated to a function much appreciated in daily life: a fast-adjustment date with no ‘non-correction phase’ as well as stop-seconds for accurate time-setting and a power-reserve indicator. The family is growing and blooming.
