Created in 1935, the Cadenas watch by Van Cleef & Arpels is distinguished by a sloping case serving to read the time discreetly, and a highly original clasp evoking a padlock. It is said to have been inspired by the Duchess of Windsor. This veritable “jewel that tells the time”, designed as a symbol of sentimental attachment, is celebrating its 80th birthday by adopting an enlarged dial rendered more legible than ever by original hour markings and a fastening system secured by ceramic beads. The jewelry versions, variously adorned with diamonds and pink sapphires, feature a new design achieved using the snow-setting technique. The models are fitted with the original serpent-style chain bracelet or with more contemporary alligator leather straps.
