Radically different ? While MCT’s famous prisms displaying the hours are replaced here by traditional hours and minutes hands, this original reading of time nonetheless remains true to the avant-garde spirit of MCT, as does the iconic case revisited in a 42 mm version. Based on an original creative concept, its new Manufacture movement is distinguished by a balance wheel positioned above the center of the dial. Centering the escapement (equipped with a variable-inertia balance wheel teamed with a Breguet terminal curve) involves shifting the transmission from beneath the movement to the center. This technical feat is accentuated by the aesthetic demands of the traditional hours and minutes displayed : guided by a ball bearing, the hand bushes (pipes) appear around the exterior of the central escapement and placed on ruby rollers. This clever perspective-based staging of the movement and its components exudes a sense of weightlessness. The depth effects and sense of lightness are magnified by the variety of colors and surface treatments, as well as by the contrasting finishing operations – brushed, polished, circulargrained, bead-blasted and Côtes de Genève – gracing the famous cross-shaped bridge. This resolutely technical content flaunts a modern elegance reinforced by the sapphire inlay enhancing the case middle and subtly integrated with the titanium layers. The undeniably mysterious personality of the Frequential One is also resolutely masculine.
